Search Engine Watch is reporting that YouTube videos are starting to appear in Google News listings.
Sure enough, video links are starting to pop up in selected search results. Just look for the word “video” next to a “+” symbol.
At the moment, it doesn’t appear to be so wide-spread, so it looks as if Google is only experimenting in their online sandbox, to gauge user reaction.
Let’s hope the use of YouTube videos in Google News becomes more wide-spread. It’s good to see Google finally using one of its biggest acquisitions for more than karoke videos and dancing cats. Inserting videos into news results, especially breaking news, could really revolutionize the way we look upon getting our news fix online.
If anyone can find other Google news sources with video links, let us know in the comments. It would be interesting to find out the full extent of Google’s experiment.
