YouTube Increases Upload Limit for All
Do you love watching videos on YouTube? If you’re reading this post, chances are, like most of us, you have often lost countless hours watching YouTube video after video. Do you ever sit back and wish that you could watch more than 10 minutes of anything? Well, even if you haven’t, plenty of people have asked the YouTube guys to increase the upload limit.
YouTube has granted this request, offering a new upload limit of 15 minutes for everyone. The move shows that YouTube is keen to stay top of the social media giants. YouTube is also not without a sense of humor it seems, as they have also allowed users to take advantage of the new upgrade by participating in “15 Minutes of Fame.”
You won’t win any money or any other kind of fancy prize, but you’ll definitely be able to receive your 15 minutes of fame if you upload your video and tag it with “yt15minutes” no later than August 4th. That’s next week, people! The handful of those winners selected will be featured on the YouTube homepage in an upcoming spotlight.
This new upload limit also benefits copyright owners. With it, major U.S. movie studios, music labels, and other partners can use the Content ID system (which has recently been improved) to manage their YouTube content more easily and effectively. It’s tools like this that let us all enjoy different forms of media online, especially on YouTube, which has gotten plenty of slack in the copyright infringement department of late.
Oh, and a word to the wise – if you previously attempted to upload a video that was too long, just delete it and try again. You shouldn’t have any problems.
