Want More Domain Level Control on Wave? You Got It
Late last week, Google announced that they started rolling out their user policy management. What does that mean? Well, it means that Google Apps Premier and Education Edition customers alike will be able to customize their domains a little more. Specifically, these customers will be able to control which users in their domains can have access to what applications in the suite. So, they can customize who can use what. Pretty cool, we think.
This change likely comes from the fact that quite a few companies and schools have asked Google to allow the ability to test out new applications with a pre-selected subset of users, as some users do not necessarily need to use a particular application.
Once this new feature is fully implemented, administrators will be able to enable Google Wave to a group of advanced testers and users. This will prove extremely beneficial when certain users need to be denied access to a particular application. For example, administrators at a school may allow teachers to use an app before providing access to the students.
This new change will be apparent in the Organizations and Users tab found in the control panel. If you don’t see it right away in your Google Wave, don’t worry. It will take about a week or so for the changes to hit across the board.
