Wanna Time Travel? See Sky Map

For thousands of years, man has wanted to go back in time or catch a glimpse of the future, at the very least.  When you look up at the night sky, you are, in a way, looking back in time.  It takes years for the light from those twinkling stars to reach you on earth.  The guys at Google are very much aware of this phenomenon.

In an effort to bring us the sky in a new way, the nice people at Google have brought us Google Sky Map.  This cool application can give us a glimpse of what the sky looked like 100 years ago.  You can even see how the sky looked the night of the very first moon landing.  But you want to know what’s even cooler?  Google Sky Maps can show us what the sky will look next week or even next year.

The latest version of Google Sky Maps is now available.  Did you ever think you would be able to see what the sky looked like or will look like, on a specific date?  Simply go to the desired year and check it out.  You can fast forward and even rewind at different speeds.

Google Sky Maps is available for Android devices running Android 1.6 and higher.  You can get the app in the Android Market using your smart phone.
