Voice Search Gets New Languages
Good news for anyone that speaks Russian, Polish, Czech, or Turkish! Google has just launched Voice Search in these four languages. This is obviously great news for native speakers of the language who have been yearning for a chance to use the vocal-based search platform. If you happen to speak any of the above languages, you too can now ask queries such as where to find the nearest gas station, what the weather has in store, and even how to cook your favorite recipes – straight from your smartphone!
Of course, please bear in mind that you can only use one language at a time. So, if you are clever enough to speak all four of these languages, you can’t simply speak in one and then the other. Instead, you will have to actually go into your device and change the language setting so that the software can recognize which language you are speaking in.
As you may or may not already know, Voice Search is usually pre-loaded onto all new Android devices, but it might be a good idea to check your smartphone to see if you have it installed. If you do already have the app, just press and hold down the search button to initiate the feature. Then, simply speak your query into the phone.
Anyone with Android (2.0 and higher) can go to the Voice Search app icon in the Android Market and install the feature quickly and easily. If you don’t have an Android but have another smartphone such as the iPhone or Blackberry, you can go right to Google Mobile and download the app from there.
