Upgrading Your Blogger Account to Version 3 (part 3)

So now we’ve learned what the new features the new Blogger version has. If you’re excited about this, then you should try it yourself. It’s fairly simple to get the benefits of the latest version if you’re signing up for a new account.

If you already do have a Blogger account, you can migrate to the new version in a few steps. First, you log in to your Blogger account. Then look for the Migrate button at the lower right part of your dashboard.

The problem is that not all blogger accounts are able to migrate to the new version, for one reason or another. If you don’t see the Migrate link, then your blogs and/or your account are probably still not eligible for the new version. One reason would be if you have a relatively large blog–something with more than a thousand posts or more than a couple of thousand comments. These won’t be easily migrated to the new system (especially since each post and comment is to be incorporated into the database, and no longer as a static HTML file). Google promises to make migration available for all accounts.

One workaround would be–if you’re planning to create a new blog–to create a new one under your Google/Gmail account, and merge this later on with your existing account. If you’re already logged in to Google using your Gmail or other Google account, Blogger will automatically use this as your sign-up credential by default.

Simply input the desired name of the account, check the “agree to terms of service” box, and you can already proceed to the next step.

You will then be asked to key in your desired blog title and blogspot.com subdomain.

The next step would be to choose a layout. Once you’ve chosen your desired layout, you’re good to go.
