Two Google search tricks for international business
With Google being my search engine of choice, I am always looking for more ways for the search engine to make my life easier.   Today I discovered two that would be useful for international business.
Until today, I had no idea that Google acted as a currency converter and that you could also find out the current time in any country.
With clients in different countries, I often deal in different currencies and I have to know the exchange rates and Euro equivalents so I can keep my tax records in order. Â Â I used to use Yahoo’s currency converter but apparently Google does the same job.
For example, typing “1 Euro in British money” brings up the following result :

Now what if you want to phone that international client but you need to know the time over there?  You don’t want to phone them while they are in bed (which is bound to torpedo that valuable deal you are negotiating).  I used to use the World Time Server.   But now Google can keep me informed on the international time zones.
So let’s assume the client is in Los Angeles. Â Just type into Google “time in Los Angeles” and you get :

Do you know any more search tricks that would be useful for international business?

And also “weather in city”
e.g. weather in Moscow
How come these tricks don’t work on Google.fr? on how to force Firefox to stay on Google.com instead of switching to .fr ?
Anyone?
@Thierry – I assume you have a Google search box plug-in in the top right hand corner of Firefox? Then just go to the Mycroft website and download the Google.com search plug-in instead. Just go to http://mycroft.mozdev.org/quick/google.html and choose “google.com” from the list.
Or if you know how to, you can open the script file for the Google.fr plug-in and change it to google.com . I may write a post on this for anyone who’s interested.
I had left a comment over here. I am not sure why you deleted it?
@nitinpai no idea, but I generally delete comments if they are not relevant or spammy, perhaps you got caught in the mix?
Thanks Mark! you make life a lot easy .. same goes for Google!
