The New Google Docs App For Android Has Better Editing and OCR
Google’s mobile interface for all its services, be it Gmail or Google Docs, are no doubt good. But then, in the smartphone world where feature-rich apps can add much more to the functionality of the service on a mobile phone, the lack of a native Google Docs app left much to be desired. Well, not anymore at least for the Android users.
Google recently launched a native Google Docs app for Android phone which has everything(almost) that users have been demanding that its mobile interface should have.
As you see in the screenshot below, the interface is neat and easy to go through. You can check all items, documents, images, starred items etc quickly. I don’t have an Android phone so couldn’t try it, but the app has received mainly positive response because the editing and other functions work pretty well.

You may directly upload content like images, documents etc from the phone to your Google Docs account using the app. You may also add a Docs widget to the homescreen that lets you quickly check the starred documents, take a photo to upload and create a new document.

And of course, it has this brilliant OCR feature that can extract the text from images that have them, and put it onto a Google document. So, you can use the phone’s camera to capture the contents of a paper document, extract the text, edit it and then email it to whomsoever it needs to be emailed to.

The app, like all the other Google apps for Android, is free so you don’t need to think twice before downloading it. Get it from the Android market.
