Street View Navigation Goes Single Click
You might remember last year when the guys at Google introduced a little something called Smart Navigation to their Street View app. Smart Navigation lets you jump to a new panorama quickly and easily, what you had to do before was double-click an object or a place. Well, now things got a whole lot easier, you only need one click.
The click-to-go feature is pretty impressive, if we do say so ourselves. While using the feature you should notice that as you move your mouse around any street view panorama you’ll see a rectangle or disk shape following your moves. The Google guys call this little thing a ‘pancake’. Anyone want breakfast?
So, the pancake moves with your moves and makes the panorama seem much more three-dimensional. However, it also has another use; it will let you know where you can jump to a new panorama for a new view. In many cases, the pancake will even allow you to zoom in on particular places.
The pancake also lets you immerse yourself even deeper into new locations on the internet. We think this is going to make Street View even more valuable as people plan for their upcoming vacations and holiday travel.
Single-click navigation is available across the board, as long as there are additional views. As always, it looks like Google are constantly adding to their arsenal of images and street views to enhance their ongoing online world atlas.
