Yesterday, Google made two major announcements that has brought Sprint to the forefront of the Android scene in the US. They were integration of Google Voice and introduction of the Nexus S 4G on Sprint.

The integration of Google Voice could be a big plus for Sprint users who struggle with too many calls on more than one number. Let me quote this very important paragraph from Google’s announcement that explains how exactly this Google Voice integration would work for Sprint customers. Here’s what they had to say:

First, Sprint customers will be able to use their existing Sprint mobile number as their Google Voice number and have it ring multiple other phones simultaneously. So now, calls to your Sprint mobile number can easily be answered from your office or your home phone, or even your computer through Gmail. Calls from Gmail and text messages sent from google.com/voice will also display your Sprint number. This basically gives Sprint customers all the benefits of Google Voice without the need to change or port their number.

You see how easy it could now become for Sprint users to manage multiple phone numbers. Even Gmail could serve as a phone for them now.

Google also introduced the Nexus S 4G that’ll work on the blazing fast Sprint 4G network. Co-developed with Samsung, the phone has a nice 4” Contour Display along with cameras, both on the back and front, 16GB internal memory and many other goodies.

Sprint users, it sure is a double bonanza from Google for ya! And if you are someone waiting to buy a really good Android phone, you might just want to wait for the Nexus S 4G.
