Small Details Make a Big Difference in Google Maps
For the past few years Google Maps has been giving other web mapping service applications like MapQuest a run for their money. Free for non-commercial use, Google Maps offers accurate street maps and directions. Google Maps is interactive allowing for everything from a plain map view to a detailed satellite view.
But as Google knows, there is always room for improvement. Because so many people have come to rely on Google Maps for directions and planning, even the smallest change can make a really big difference. Their last major style change took place back in 2009 though some small changes have been implemented since then. However, Google recently made changes that are worth mentioning now.
On the map view roads have been made thinner and more discernible. Additionally, tunnels now appear as though they really are underground. This makes the maps so much easier to read and print out for reference. Another thing they’ve fixed is making the maps more navigable – this means less overlap of roads and a better sense of the city structure.
Though many people may not even realize, the more detailed a map, the easier it is to read. And that means less people getting lost. So, with these small changes to Google Maps shows us that improvements in the littlest of details make a big difference. So, go ahead and map out your next route and see the difference today!
