Slide’s Famed Founder Max Levchin to Quit Google
If you remember, just a few days ago I talked about a new photo sharing app called Photovine that Google introduced for iOS. The app was created by the Slide team, the company that Google had acquired sometime ago. In an interesting turn of events, Slide’s famed founder Max Levchin is said to be quitting Google soon.
That isn’t the only news. Google is also dissolving (which is a euphemism for closing or shutting down) Slide, however, the good news is that the Slide employees (about 100 in number) will be retained for working at Google on different opportunities.
According to AllThingsD, a Google spokesperson said the following:
Max has decided to leave Slide and Google to pursue other opportunities, and we wish him the best. Most of the team from Slide will remain at Google to work on other opportunities.

Max Levchin’s rise to fame happened when Paypal, a company he co-founded, emerged as the prime service for sending and receiving payments worldwide. Many say that Google’s decision to acquire Slide was a lot to do with Max Levchin being at its helm.. who wouldn’t want him to work with them, right?
You probably know that YouTube still works as an independent company inside Google (or an independent body of people focused on YouTube). Slide had been working similarly after the Google acquisition. I think Google decided that it’s time to make use of its talented team elsewhere in the company. We will have to wait and watch how many Slide employees call it quits after Max’s exit.
