Do you remember November 2008? That was when we were introduced to the first ever Android phone to hit the market. Now, two years later, there are about 100 different Android devices to choose from, with around 200,000 devices being actively used throughout the world. That’s some pretty impressive growth.
Well, the guys over at Google show no signs of slowing down, either. They’ve just announced the latest platform for Android, Gingerbread, and have also just unveiled their newest Nexus line device – the Nexus S.
The Nexus S is the first and only Android device to with Android’s latest platform. The product was developed along with Samsung, making for a perfect marriage between the software and hardware. The guys over at Google see the Nexus S as the ideal Google experience.
But what exactly does all of this mean? Well, the experience will allow ultimate access to all of the latest Google mobile services, in addition to the most recent Android updates and releases. In fact, Gingerbread is the fastest version of Android to date, and has a number of improvements over past platforms.
Starting on December 16 you’ll be able to find the Nexus S in the United States and throughout the United Kingdom starting on December 20. So, if you haven’t gone shopping for the holidays yet, you’ll soon have your chance.
