How to add World Cup team colours to your browsing experience
Sometimes even something as basic, trusty, and inoffensive as the white and sky blue interface for Chrome can get a little tiresome. Luckily, there are scores of programmers out there working untold hours to make new browser themes that liven things up. If you are a soccer/football/futebol/etc. fan who needs to show support for their choice country/team at all times, even when browsing, then these are add-ons you will want. Google has released browser themes for Chrome based on the colour scheme for each of the contending national teams in the 2010 FIFA World Cup, South Africa.
Getting colorful
As with all things Chrome, its easy to to change to your fav country’s theme:
- Go to the download page for your country’s theme (e.g. Holland).
- Click the blue “Install” button and it will automatically set a new theme.
- If you do not like the theme you can undo the change back to the previous (in this example Brazil) by clicking the grey “Undo” button at the top of the page that appears right after the theme change is made.
- Alternatively you can go to the “Customize and control Google Chrome” menu (wrench icon – upper right), select “Options”, click the “Personal Stuff” tab, and click the “Reset to default theme” button to go back to blue and white.
Keeping an eye on the matches while browsing
Chrome also has an extension that takes the feed from FIFA.com to get live match results, news, schedules, standings, and the ability to share them through Twitter or Buzz. It is an easy way to keep an eye on developments as the tourney progresses. Install it as you would any extension.
What is your favorite World Cup theme? Does the FIFA.com extension live up to its promises? Please let us know in the comments section.
