Highlights From Google Inside Search 2: Instant Pages and Search By Image Chrome Extension
Yesterday, in our first part of Highlights From Google Inside Search post, we talked about Google’s upcoming Voice Search and Search By Image features. If you aren’t aware of these features, we suggest you that you follow this link and check that article. I personally think that both those features could prove to be extremely useful for an average Google search user like you and me.
Today, we will talk about Instant Pages and the Search By Image Chrome Extension. Lets see what they are all about.
Instant Pages

Google’s obsession with speed is well known and Instant Pages is another step in that direction. Built into Google Chrome ( and currently available in the Dev Channel ), this new feature will ensure that the search user reaches his desired result, i.e the webpage he is looking for, as quickly as possible. Here quickly means instantly..zero seconds! Yes, that’s what Google demonstrated. It pre-renders the first search result in the background and as the user clicks on it, the site loads instantly.

As you see in the screenshot above, the White House site took 0 seconds to load with the pre-rendering feature as compared to 7.2 seconds in the normal Google search. Google says it uses the feature only when it is confident about the page you will click in the search results. Cool!
The feature is coming to all versions of Chrome soon.
Search By Image Chrome Extension
You saw the search by image feature that’s coming to Google Images soon in our post yesterday, right? Well, Google has also released a Chrome extension that makes the searching by images process quicker. It adds an option to the right-click and you can use it on any image on the web.

Clicking on the “Search Google with this image” option searches the web for similar images and also tells you where it probably appears on the web.
So, that concludes our highlights from Google Inside Search event series. What are your favorites among the features introduced? Which one struck a chord with you? Lets discuss in the comments.
