Google’s New Online Clinic
Webmasters lucky enough to have attended Google conferences will know that Google often provides advice and first-hand knowledge to those struggling to solve technical issues and design queries. Often referred to as Google Clinics, the advice provided allows webmasters to learn by example.
Google’s Search Quality Team has now announced a new ‘clinic’ – this time, one that will be hosted online at the Webmaster Blog, allowing webmasters throughout the world to benefit from firsthand experience direct from Google’s knowledgeable team.
The new site clinic will primarily focus its efforts on non-profit organizations, but small businesses and government sites will likely benefit from Google’s advice as well.
Users can register their site for the new Google Clinic’s consideration – simply by filling out the online form. Google will then correlate the information and determine obvious trends, so that it can offer help to the issues that arise the most among webmasters and improve overall site quality. All analysis carried out by Google will be made available in the form of a follow-up post.
Of course, Google will want to avoid cases of unnecessary requests, and as such it has put forward some guidelines. These include:
1 – The website should belong to an official, registered not-for-profit organization
2 – Webmasters must be able to verify their site in Webmaster Tools.
3 – The website must meet Google’s standard quality guidelines.
Are you a webmaster of a non-profit organization? Even if you aren’t administrating a charitable website, but instead manage your own website, chances are Google will publish the results of each website sent for its scrutiny – there will undoubtedly be something to learn from the information that Google chooses to publish.
If you are interested in submitting your website, ensure that you register before Monday, November 8.
