Google Unleashes Photovine, a Slick Photo Sharing App
Photovine is a new iPhone app by the Slide team that Google acquired sometime ago if you remember. This app has been under the radar for sometime, spotted first by The Next Web early July. That app is now open to all.

Photovine is an interesting app actually. It is not just about sharing photos; it’s about sharing “themed” photos. The app calls those collections of photos “Vines” and hence the name Photovine.

Themed photos mean photos that convey similar moods, surroundings etc. For example, you are strolling in the garden and come across a bunch of flowers of different colors. You use Photovine to take a snap and tag it as “Colorful.”
You then share it with your buddies that you are connected to on the app. A friend sees your photo and he takes another picture of kids in all kinds of colorful dresses playing together, and he adds that photo to the “Colorful” collection, which started with your photo.

So, the “colorful” collection of photos is called a vine, and you could have your pictures across various vines. Notes can be added to the photos too. In a way, this is like storytelling with pictures.

If you have an iPhone, try this app and tell us how it worked. The screenshots definitely look neat, and considering the popularity of image sharing iOS apps, I think this one is poised well to make it to the top league.
What do you think?

I wonder if this app will really ever hit a critical mass. It’s definitely a fantastic idea… but I was considering using it and couldn’t quite wrap my head around why I would want to share photos centered around a specific “theme”.
I do love the UI of the APP though and I wonder how/if Google will integrate this into Google+
It looks like a nice app,I just downloaded the app
