If you are a veteran Google search user (and someone who likes to dig in and see what else you can do with a tool), you’d know that you could get a lot out of it by using various search operators and keywords. For starters, just typing in “weather in new york” would instantly show you the current weather conditions in NY in both Celsius and Fahrenheit. You could use the search tab as a calculator, as a dictionary…there are many examples really.

Google Search Features is a nice page that gives an overview of what Google search is capable of, and has search boxes under different sections on the page.

As you see in the screenshot above, the page has sections called Everyday Essentials, Reference Tools, Choosing Keywords, Local Search, Health Search, Trip Planning, Query Refinements and Search by Number. Each of them have different search boxes that’s relevant to the topic. Like Everyday Essentials has weather and stock quotes, reference tools has calculator and unit conversion, and so on.

The left sidebar has links to pages like “Basics of Search” and “Advanced Search” for people who would like to go a bit deep into search shortcuts and see what are the different query operators.

I think the page demonstrates some pretty useful Google search features. Like, take a look at the two screenshots above(Query Refinements and Search by Number). For an advanced user like me, all this might seem trivial but there are millions of Google users who are simply unaware of such Google features. This is a page that could help them a lot.

So, if you’ve got someone who you think would benefit from this page, do share it with him (and ask him to bookmark it). It’s certainly worth checking out every day.
