Google Reader’s new timestamp feature

Google Reader has introduced a feature where you can see the timestamp of each post.   The timestamp shows both when the post was published on the blog and when it was picked up and transmitted by Google Reader.     As far as I can see, the only possible thing this does for the user is remind them how long it takes for Google Reader to detect new posts!

Some posts, like this one, was picked up by Google Reader within 5 minutes :

5 minutes is very good but then look at this other feed that I subscribe to :

This post was on the blog for a full three hours before Google Reader managed to detect it!    Browsing through the timestamps of my other 200+ feeds, I am seeing similar patterns – posts published for 2-3 hours before Google Reader delivers it to me.    In the fast-moving world of blogs and the internet in general, I personally believe that having to wait 3 hours for a post is unacceptable.

So this new feature introduced by Google has done nothing but highlight how slow their Reader application is.

Nice one Google.   Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.

Do have a solution? I have to wait a couple hours sometimes for my post to show and have some other feeds that it is a full 24 hours before they show. I have tried different methods and still the same result. I am starting to figure that there is nothing to do be done until google improves.
