Google+ Now Has Trends and Search Filters
It seems Google+ is adding new features almost every day. While some of them are published officially describing what the new feature is all about, many other features are being rolled out without much fanfare which are later discovered by someone in the ever curious tech community.
Like two days ago, a reader of the blog The Next Web tipped them about a new thing he came across while browsing Google+: Trends. And later, the folks there found that it wasn’t the only new feature; there were search filters too.
I decided to see if it shows up on my Google+ account and it did! I entered “galaxy nexus” in the Google+ search bar and it came up. See the screenshot below.

Can you see the Trends on the right sidebar? Yes, I know it reminds us of the trends thing in Twitter and looks like Google copied, or to be more politically correct, “was inspired” from them. But nonetheless, it’s cool.
Also, check how neatly Google+ shows the number of people and page results that’s relevant to the search query.

It has also introduced new search filters. You can now search for stuff from everyone, from your circles, and just from you in Google+. I think this will come in very handy and is a huge step forward in making Google+ search better and more useful.

Overall, these new features are likely to make the life of a regular Google+ user easier. If you are on Google+, don’t forget to try them out.
