Good news for Android mobile users who regularly use Google Maps to find directions and places. Google has introduced a new version of Google Maps for Android that brings along some nice new features.

Called Google Maps 4.6 for Android, this new version incorporates the new Places design and features, the ability to filter search results and real-time location updating with Google Latitude.

It makes sense to include the Places reviews in this new version. It can help one see reviews about a restaurant or a shopping spot when he is on the move.

As you see in the screenshot above, the interface is easy to navigate. You’ll find two kinds of review:

1. Reviews from around the web – This feature would source reviews for sites like Yelp thereby making sure that there is no dearth of quality reviews about the place.

2. Reviews from Google users – These are the same reviews which people post on Google Maps, about a location.

Then there is the Filter Search Results option that helps you narrow your destination search by distance, neighborhood and other such parameters.

Finally, the Google Latitude real-time updating tool would enable you to meet up with friends who might be somewhere near your location but you didn’t know about that.

Overall, a nice bunch of features to enhance Google Maps for Android.
