If you are creating a report or composing a document on a particular topic using Google Docs, chances are that you switch to Google search often in the search of material like images, blog posts and quotes. Google Docs has now introduced a new Research tool that’ll aid you in fetching these material without the need to leave Google Docs’ interface.
The Research Tool appears in the form of a sidebar whenever you open a new document in Google Docs. It can also be accessed via the Tool menu in the nav bar.
There’s a Google search bar right on top that gives you 3 search options:
When you hover the mouse pointer over any search result, it shows 3 options: Preview, Insert Link and Cite, each of these being self-explanatory.
The following screenshot shows how it quickly pulls up the web page in a concise format when you click on the preview link.
