For a website to achieve its goals, it is important that its visitors look and click on things which would yield maximum returns for the site.

This is the reason why firms spend thousands of dollars on site design. They want their site to be designed in a manner that helps the most important things on the site catch their customer’s attention.

While there are many advanced tools that can measure website usability and generate complex heatmaps, most of them are costly.

Browser Size, a new tool launched today by Google, is for those who want to get an idea about their site’s usability but can’t invest in advanced analytics tools. It helps you see which portions of site are exposed to maximum audience and what lies below the fold.

The tool doesn’t require a sign up, or a Google account. Just enter your site url and hit ‘Go’.

Using the tool, you can check your site layout to see if a key component of the site is missing the attention of visitors and decide whether you need to make some design changes accordingly.

Browser Size joins various other innovative projects under Google Labs. It is based on a sample of visitor data to google.com. Overall, another useful tool by Google that helps in improving website layout and hence increase conversions.
