Although it might seem impossible, there are tons and tons of people still on earth that do not own a Google account. Google isn’t that ubiquitous as it would want itself to be. It knows that and hence time and again it comes up with innovative promotion techniques to spread the word about its services.

The latest initiative in this series is the Google Accounts page. It is a simple page that shows off the advantages of owning a Google account and allows the user to quickly register for one.

Lets take a closer look at the services it is promoting on this page.

First off, we’ve got the formidable Google Search, Google Maps and Google News. The listing of Google News at the top of the list was a bit of surprising for me.

Then we have Picasa, Google Finance, Gmail and Google Calendar. The square blocks showing off the products are neat and simple, and the captions like “Share photos with friends”, “More storage, less spam” are right on spot.

Finally, we’ve got Google Docs, Sites, Google Talk, and Google Voice. It highlights the free phone calls feature in Google Voice quite well.

As you saw, the list doesn’t include services like Google Reader, Analytics, Groups etc. The page is clearly meant for the masses and the products listed are the ones that are most likely to get your Mom or Grandfather sign up for a Google account.

Good job, Google!
