I do feel bad it hasn't been updated but unfortunately I don't have time for it at this time. I do plan to update it again but at the moment is is not near the top of the list. I'd like to be able to give you more hope but I'd rather be honest.

Images would be nice as would many other things, but this was really intended to simply list the links you liked in Google Reader. More than that and it gets complicated quickly which I would like to avoid.

Glad you like it though, and I will think through new options like images when we get around to updating the plugin!

Hello,
I'd like to argue in favour of including the images in the posts.
My opinion is as follow
- Images are a content, just like text. So it makes sense not to differentiate them.
- In most cases not having the image makes it almost impossible to understand the post because the post is actually about the image
- Google reader is already republishing the content in full, having it elsewhere is the same.
- A long page of text is just not digest
- If (and only if) the source and author are mentioned it is actually promoting them, which is a good thing
- Having the images will make your plugin and our Google reader replication more successful
- etc

Let me know your thoughts
Thanks for creating that plugin

I'm pretty sure I've figured out how to get this feature by editing the shared-items-post.php

Around line 212 (just before
$new_items[] = $new_item;
), Add this:

$rss = $item->get_source();
$new_item['source_link'] = $rss->get_permalink();
$new_item['source_title'] = $rss->get_title();

Also, around line 228 (within the
foreach ($new_items as $item)
loop), add this:

$import = str_replace('%SOURCE%', $item["source_title"], $import);
$import = str_replace('%SOURCELINK%', $item["source_link"], $import);

And now %SOURCE% and %SOURCELINK% work just like %TITLE% and %LINK% in the plugin options page in WordPress.

I just played around until I got this to work...use at your own risk. I used this page for reference: http://simplepie.org/wiki/tutorial/how_to_display_previous_feed_items_like_google_reader
In that example, the relevant variable is called
$feed
instead of
$rss
.

I installed this plugin a few days ago because it sounds like EXACTLY what I'm looking for with my Google Reader feed, but I've been unable to make it run with any regularity. I don't have any errors that I can see. Can anybody verify for me if this plugin works correctly under 2.8.5, and if so, was there anything special you had to do to make it work? Here's a brief rundown of my settings:

Pretty generic really. I've gotten this to fire one time. I don't know if it was because of a schedule (unlikely since it was something like 10:07 PM when it fired, and since the schedule (and the server time IS right) was set to 6:00 PM, that would be weird) or because I hit the "Run Now" button (more likely).

Any ideas? Server url is http://www.linuxrants.com/

I'd appreciate any help I can get.

Anyone found a fix for this?

I get

'Fatal error: Call to a member function do_blog_post_tweet() on a non-object in /homepages/35/d113445063/htdocs/Joe/wp-content/plugins/twitter-tools/twitter-tools.php on line 740'

for every page on my site, even admin pages that don't display any twitter tools. Especially interesting is the fact that I don't have twitter tools update twitter when I post on my blog.

Here's lines 738-741:

function aktt_notify_twitter($post_id) {
        global $aktt;
        $aktt->do_blog_post_tweet($post_id);
}

I renamed the file and logged in, where I found that the Shared Items plugin had posted multiple copies of an article I shared last night. Anywhere from 2-16 per hour. Since this was the first time I'd shared an item through Google Reader since I installed twitter tools, evidence is strong for a conflict.....

Let me know if you want a complete plugin list.

Hi Kim,

The plugin itself doesn't use styles at all, it just outputs the html so any styling you are seeing should be due to your own CSS.

I hope this helps!

I would like to feature the name of the Blog that the shared item comes from, but I can't see a tag for that? Author name for group blogs would be good too.

Am I missing something obvious?

Hello!
I've tried to change the output that is given by %date% but I failed. :(
Well the problem is I'd like to have the $date_format as "d.m.Y".
I found an entry in simplepie.php line 3509 and changed the value but nothing changed at all.
Anything else I have to change?

Thanks

This has multi-posted for the last 4 days in a row. The SimplePie Error fix previously mentioned in another thread did not fix this issue.

Honestly this is the last straw, I del'd the plugin. It's a great idea, may try it again if/when you update it.

Is there anyway to publish images from my shared items rather then just the title and description? Not sure if it's possible but I basically would like the post to appear as it does here - http://www.google.co.uk/reader/shared/14842648874386324410
