Editing Your Google Maps and Business Listing
We all know that the world is an imperfect place and that even Google can make mistakes. Well, the same goes for Google Maps. The information in this service comes from a variety of sources, one of which includes third parties, so things are bound to get a little mixed up from time to time. It is for this reason why it is so important for people to be able to make edits and corrections.
If you find something that is wrong on Google Maps, it could be a problem with the map data itself. This is often a misspelling of a road name or a city. The error could also reside with Google’s Business Listing data.
Google has made it easy for users of to go in and rectify or report any possible errors. Believe it or not, the search engine giant actually relies on the rest of the world to check its back and appreciates when issues are pointed out. How’s that for taking criticism well?
So, what do you do when you find something wrong in Google Maps or a Business Listing? Here’s the scoop:
- Report the problem to Google. There is a tool that lets you do this easily. Within a short amount of time Google will make the correction.
- Business Listings can be edited directly on Google Maps if there is any misinformation.
- If you happen to own the business and haven’t claimed it on Google Places, do so. This will allow problems to be corrected much faster and updates edited more quickly.
