Customize Your Gmail Background With Images

Gmail themes received a lot of positive traction when it was introduced. People were waiting to try something new with their Gmail backgrounds and the themes arrived at the right time for them to experiment and enjoy.

Later, Google introduced the ability to create your own Gmail theme. So, through a simple do-it-yourself interface it allowed users to create their own Gmail backgrounds.

As you see in the above screenshot, the create your own theme option can be found under Themes in Gmail settings. However, there was one major limitation – the lack of an option to add a background image. You could play with the background colors but couldn’t upload an image. The Gmail team has recently addressed this issue and now you can customize your Gmail background by uploading your own images.

You can add a background image and also set its alignment and tiling. It’s all pretty easy.
