Christmas Trees in Google Earth 6
What Christmas isn’t complete without the obligatory festive Christmas tree? The symbol of the holidays, spruce, fir and cedar trees dressed in colorful lights and ornaments go a long way in getting us into the festive mood. In an apparent effort to get into the holiday spirit themselves, the guys at Google have decided to add a handful of Christmas trees into various places for Google Earth 6.
For example, head to New York City and take a peek at the Rockefeller Center – there you’ll see a fantastic Christmas tree adorning the location! Or alternatively, head to Red Square in Moscow for a festive tree sporting illumination in the style of Saint Basil’s Cathedral.
In Google’s opinion, one of the more interesting locations to be afforded with a Christmas tree is Austin in Texas (the exact location can be found along highway 360 near 2222). According to folklore, elves spread the holiday cheer in this location every year by dressing the cedar trees in ornaments, lights and tinsel – but we’ll let you come to your own conclusions!
In total, Google has ‘planted’ Christmas trees in 14 locations in Google Earth 6 – as far as we know anyway. If you have found all 14 trees, or maybe even located some more secret ones they haven’t mentioned, let us know and post the location so that others can check them out on Google Earth 6. Happy holidays!
