Blogger Labels: Just Like Tags!
Google has put Blogger out of beta, and along with this update comes many new features that we find great. One of these is the new labels, which let you organize your posts according to keywords. This works only if you’re using the new version of blogger.
In a way, these are like the Categories that are common with other blogging softwares. However, the interface that Blogger provides is more like a tagging system–something not so common with blogging softwares, but can be added as plugins. In particular, Technorati is a great site that uses tags to organize information on blog posts around the blogosphere.
Using blogger labels is quite simple. At the lower part of the post editor, you will see a text box where you can key in your desired keywords as labels. Separate each with a comma (you can use phrases or multiple-word keywords, too).
If you wish to select from a list of existing labels, just click the show all link.
When you publish, you will see the labels as tags under each post. When you click on any one, you will then be led to an archive of posts with that particular label.
You can also add a list of labels that you’ve used on your sidebar, so you can easily output an archive of posts with that label for readers to use.
To add the labels to the sidebar, simply go to layout, click add a page element. Then a pop-up window appears. Select LABELS and click SAVE TO BLOG. Your labels will then appear on your sidebar.

THe View Posts By Topic box requires you to upgrade your template. How can I add it without having to upgrade my template?
I basically had the same question. The reason I can’t upgrade to add the sidebar widget is that my blog is ftp-based. I don’t need the layout features, but adding labels to the sidebar would be great.
Ok, I am using label. but the monster is showing 100 posts of the same label post in one blog window! that ridiculously slow down the browser and at times it freezes. Users also do not want 100 posts of same label on one browser page.
The point is, how to limit display, say, 5 posts per page?
For Blogger FTP users see Blogger Labels guide.
[…] If you use Blogger, as I do, create a labeling convention for each class. Something like “AmLit”, “BritLit”, and “WorldLit” will do. Then, write separate posts for each class, applying the appropriate label. The Google Tutor then explains how to show labels on your sidebar. […]
How can I send labels with the emails I send to my blog, rather than have to add them afterwards.
Whats the correct amount of Labels(keywords) can we give in one post?
there will be some ratio like 7-8 or just 1 to avoid spamming, guess i’ll get a good reply
thanks
I was wondering the same thing as richard above. Is there a way to apply labels to posts via email?
