So you have this awesome new gaming console and you hooked it up to your large screen. A screen with that massively large screen resolution you’ve always wanted. You’re totally loving the huge screen real estate, but when you get to YouTube, something is… missing. You don’t know if it’s the massively extra white space, but you really can’t put your finger on what’s bothering you.

Oh yeah, it’s just there’s too much empty space. Duh.

Well, it’s about time you checked out YouTube XL. It’s your favorite video website is optimized for watching YouTube videos on any large screen.

YTXL

When you go to the site, the URL conveniently youtube.com/xl, you would get bigger buttons and navigation controls. Now you don’t have to worry about picking the next video to play: YouTube automatically plays all the videos from a list.

In addition to an all new design offering large text and simplified navigation, YouTube XL offers a continuous play feature, which lets you search for a topic on YouTube and then press “play” once to watch all of the videos sequentially on that topic. Also, getting from one video to the next takes just a few clicks, and you can control the action with a blue tooth enabled remote control, or even some mobile phones.

The XL interface is less cluttered, easier to use, but it lacks some of the features that are available in the standard version of YouTube: rating videos, posting comments.

In other related news, YouTube’s player no longer displays the navigation controls in the full-screen mode when you don’t move your mouse.

It’s called Bluetooth, not blue tooth.
