How to Add Pictures to Picasa by Email
Ever since downloading Picasa for my mac, I have been able to organize my pictures so much easier than before. However, I also use Picasa web albums to share some of my pictures with family and friends.
When traveling, you may want to be able to upload your newest pics by email. After all, being able to email files can be very practical and ever since Gmail allows you to attach multiple files at one time, it can be done in a click.
Here is how you can send pictures directly to your Picasa Web Album
- Log in to your Picasa Web Albums account, and click on the settings link.
- Scroll down until you see the “Upload Photos by Email” section.
- Check the box that says “Allow me to upload photos by email”.
- You now have to choose a secret word that only you will know. Enter the word in the appropriate box.
- The secret word you chose is the suffix to your username in the email address you use to send your pictures to your web album.
- The email address you use to send your pictures to will have the following format: username.secretword@picasaweb.com
- In the subject line, add the name of the album you want your picture to go into. If you do not put anything in the subject line, your pictures will go into your default album.
I strongly suggest adding the address to your contact list in your email account. Especially if you pick a difficult secret word, you may forget the exact address you need to use later on.
Note: you can only send 20MB at a time, but there is no limit on the number of pictures you can upload!
Are you emailing your web album, or do you prefer the uploader? When I am on vacation and using internet cafes, I definitely use this feature, but I’m curious what everyone else thinks!
