YouTube Tip: Play and Download Videos Inside Google Search
I love YouTube. I mean, who doesn’t? This is where we upload all our family videos, crazy antics, and this is also where we view movie trailers, and other stuff. Heck, YouTube is so awesome that Google even implemented thumbnails for videos in their search results.
But it’s kind of a pain to actually load an entire YouTube webpage when you just need to search for just one particular video, right? Maybe if we had a preview option in Google it’ll be easier to actually sift through the videos.
And Roi M. did think of that, and he has come up with a solution to that problem: the Googletube Firefox Add-on. According to the Firefox Add-ons website, GoogleTube…
… adds a YouTube icon to your Google search result. Just click on the YouTube icon next to the search result to instantly watch the video without having to open any other tabs/windows.
You can also download the video and view more information regarding the video (date added, views, rating, comments) directly from the search results. The player can easily be configured, you can choose your player style, colors and size. Choose whether you like to view the video below the search result or as a floating window next to it.
You can just download GoogleTube from the Add-ons website and install it. Once installed, make a Google search. You would see a YouTube icon next to the search result link.

Click on it, and a window will pop-up and the video starts playing, eliminating the need to open up a new tab or window. Heck, only the video gets loaded. No need to download an entirely different YouTube webpage everytime you search in Google. You can even download the video and view more information regarding the video (date added, views, rating, comments) directly from the search results. Amazing.
The player can even be configured to your liking. You can select player colors, player size and these additional options:
- Allow auto play
- Show player border
- Show tiny icon on the status bar
- Show download button
- Show more information button
- Choose where to show the video (next to link, under link, ect)
It is a simple extension that does a simple task very well. You can pick up GoogleTube on the Firefox Add-ons web site.
