Google Insights Bookmarklet

Do you constantly have keywords on the brain?
I know I do, and one thing that happens to me all the time is when I’m searching for something else I’ll start wondering what the keyword volume is for the phrase I’m looking up at the moment. Having this info could help you find a new hot niche, spark some new content ideas, or quickly show you that they keyword in question isn’t worth the effort.
Google Insights is the best free tool for this data but I often don’t bother checking a keyword because I’m too busy searching to stop, open a new tab, copy over the keyword, and run my search on the Insights page.
So, I made my first bookmarklet that does that with just one click!
Just drag and drop this link to the bookmarks toolbar of your browser -
Google Insights Bookmarklet
Once installed you should see a bookmark cleverly titled ‘Google Insights Bookmarklet’ on your bookmarks menu. To use the bookmarklet simply do a search at Google, Yahoo, or Live Search, then click Google Insights Bookmarklet. The bookmarklet will automatically open Google Insights showing the stats for the keyword you were just looking up at the search engine.
You now have one click access to a wealth of keyword information for every search you do!
If you like this one, don’t miss the new Google Trends Websites Bookmarklet!
Tested on browsers: Firefox 3.0.3, IE 7, Google Chrome 0.2.149
Tested on engines: Google, Yahoo, MSN, Live.com (but it should work on many other searches)

I do have keywords on my mind all the time, and the process of finding the fast-moving movers and shakers could be vastly improved with this, thanks Goog!
Very clever!
thanks sooo much, this is AWESOMELY USEFUL!!!
awesome! seriously. It’s things like this that make me love stumbleupon. I would of never found or even thought of this otherwise.
uh oh, this might be the tool that makes me upgrade to FF 3 - nullifying a few other tools
oh the despair!
Is it working in FF2 for anyone?
That is very useful and clever, I really love and spend quite some time on Google insights and this will be very clever.
Thanks for this. Very nice tool.
Thanks, I already love it.
Ooh very nice
I can see this being really useful. Is it possible to have a tool that defaults to a particular region or year?
Thanks! This is a great tool, used it several times already.
pleased you find it useful!
This is brilliant - most useful and well reported. Thank you. Off to play with keywords and to see if I can break it for the rest of the day now…
Unbelievably useful! I’ve added to every browser I use .. thanks for sharing!
Thats a great tool.
What would I change to make it open google insights in a new tab?
It helps to see the search results and the insights results at the same time.
Thanks
