How-To Quickly Access Gmail Unread Messages
Does your Gmail Inbox have thousands of messages in it?
Do you read some messages and plan to go back later to read the other unread messages only to have a lot more messages to go through?
Do you have trouble finding the unread messages after they get pushed off the front page?
With over 1500 e-mails in my Gmail Inbox and nearly a hundred more arriving every day, I find that more and more of my unread messages fall off the first page and then I don’t end up reading them. Here is a trick I found to get quick access to just the unread messages in your Gmail account. This is so simple I don’t know why I hadn’t thought of it a long time ago.
1 – Log into your Gmail account as usual
2 – Enter is:unread in the search box and select the Search Mail button. Now the only e-mails that show are your unread messages.
3 – For quick access add the link to your bookmarks or bookmarks toolbar
a. Chrome Bookmark List: Select the star next to the address field
b. Chrome Bookmark Bar: Drag the star to the bookmark bar below the address field. If the bookmark bar is hidden, press CTRL-B to show it.
c. FireFox Bookmark List: Press CTRL-D to open the add bookmark dialog box show above; enter a name for the bookmark and select OK
d. FireFox Bookmark Toolbar: Drag the Gmail icon next to the address field and drop it on the bookmark toolbar below the address field
e. Internet Explorer Favorites Folder: Select the menu option Favorites | Add to Favorites
f. Internet Explorer Links Toolbar: Drag the Gmail icon next to the address field and drop it on the links toolbar below the address field
Now that you know how to quickly find all your unread e-mails in Gmail go outside and enjoy the nice weather before it is all gone!
