4 Reasons To Use Remember The Milk With Gmail and GCal
Remember the Milk is an awesome task management app which let’s you manage your tasks from anywhere. It requires you to create an account at their website and then gives you a world of options which can help you manage your tasks productively. And best of all it’s free !
This software can also integrate with your mobile phone and various other apps like twitter, Gmail and Google Calendar. Today I’d like to list the advantages of using this neat app with Gmail and Google Calendar.
1. Add Tasks Easily
If you spend a lot of time with gmail and gcal then using another to-do list for remembering tasks would be a waste of time. The remember the milk firefox extension for gmail and gcal lets you easily add tasks and also update or postpone them with one click.

It goes a step further and lets you connect your tasks with email. As they mention, ” Say you have an email that requires a follow up, or contains a task that you need to remember — you might star this message, or maybe label it with “To Do”. RTM can automatically create a task when you star a message, or label a message with a specific label. ”

2. Connect tasks with events and contacts
This is another neat feature of this app. You can connect your tasks with google calendar events or gmail contacts. It automatically detects if the task has anything similar to a google calendar event or it relates to a contact and adds it likewise.
You can also email a task easily to a contact.

3. Email the tasks to your yourself
What do you do if you can’t access gmail or gcal but need to add task ? For example, my previous workplace had quite stringent internet rules and didn’t allow us to access google accounts. Well, remember the milk has the solution to that too. It provides an email address for every account to which you can email tasks. Here are the 2 help topics which would help you do this :-
4. Makes You More Productive
Although Google Calendar lets you add tasks, events and also email them, I’ve found that Remember the milk (RTM ) is much more comprehensive and also comes with a lot more features. It lets you manage your tasks in a better manner and also let’s you access your tasks from rememberthemilk.com. It’s simple, fast and an easy to use to do-list / task management app which makes you more productive.
So what’s your opinion? Have you used it ? What’s your experience ?

I have used RTM with gmail and google calander for awhile now I and I find it to be very useful and a great way to integrate different services you use on a normal basis. I have also used twitter to get my tasks in RTM as well as adding events and appointements to google calendar.
So far my experience with RTM has been excellent! Your review of the services and how they integrate with Gmail and Gcal is right on. I wanted to add that you can also send a text message to your RTM account (use the email address they give you for the send address — see your phone instructions on how to do this) to SMS a new task entry.
Also check out RTM’s services as you can integrate it with all kinds of other Web 2.0 products out there (Jott, Sandy, Twitter).
Keep up the excellent reviews!
I tried to install the “Delegate to Remember the Milk” add-on in Firefox 3 and it wouldn’t let me install because it said it was an old extension not compatible with Firefox 3. Is there a different RTM add-on I should be looking for or a way around this issue? I did some googling and couldnt find a solution.
@Peter- You can download the add on from here : http://www.rememberthemilk.com/services/gmail/ It’s compatible with FF 3
Perfect! Thanks, dont know how I missed it.
how do I get rid of it? I hate that it pushes my email to the side and I”m never logged in and there is always a long in reminder on the right side of my screen and I just want it to go away please it’s driving me insane
@Taylor- In your firefox, go to Tools - > Addons and there you will find Remember the milk addon. Just uninstall it and restart your firefox.
Thank you! Much Appreciated!
I think it’s such a great idea, but it just doesn’t work yet for me! I’m not ready to give up a good old fashioned paper to-do list!
