Here’s a quick productivity tip that lets you work more efficiently with your Google Talk and GMail account.

Imagine you’re on the road and you’re pressed for time for a meeting AND the boss has picked this time to call. If says “I’ve emailed you that accounting report. I’m online now. Can we chat?”

What do you do?

Well if that happened to me I’d open up my GMail account through a browser, check that email, see that attachment and chat with the boss through the GMail interface. Quick right? Well let me show you something that’s quicker!

1. Open Google talk (the application and not thru Gmail) and login.

2. Notice that little icon at the lower right area of the GTalk interface (shown with the arrow)? Click it.

Your browser will open and will automatically log you into your GMail account. Neat eh?

That little GMail button on the GTalk interface also informs you how many unread emails you’ve got in your GMail inbox.
