Google HealthGoogle Health is a recently launched service from Google and it intends to be your online health profile through which you can store and manage all the information related to your health from one place. Like all the other Google services, it is linked to your Google account and you can use that to sign in to Google Health and create your health profile.

It can perform various functions like tracking your medical records, analyzing your medications etc. Here’s the list of functions which Google Health will perform for you:-

Google Health 2

Functions Of Google Health

1: It lets you create an online medical profile in which you can add your health information like conditions, allergies, medications, procedures, test results etc. It further lets you create additional profiles of your family members and add them to the main profile.

2: Whenever you add any information like a condition, Google Health shows you reference links which provide you further information about the symptoms and treatments of the condition.

3: It lets you import your entire medical records from the databases of hospitals with which Google Health has partnered. You can take a look at the various partners at Google Health Partner Profiles.

4: Google health tracks your medical history and lets you organize it. Further when you add new records, it checks for potential interactions between your drugs, allergies, and conditions and provides you some helpful tips.

5: It lets you fill prescriptions online and get personalized health information. And it also helps you to search for doctors and hospitals and provides their location through Google Maps.

Conclusion

Overall I think Google Health is a wonderful initiative and the only drawback is that right now there are not many hospitals as partners. So once Google ties up with all the major hospitals, this could be much more useful. And for those who have privacy concerns, I think Google is a company which can be trusted easily. Moreover, in today’s world, where people even submit their sensitive financial information online to get it analyzed, Google Health will be readily accepted.

So have you tried Google Health ?

How do I delete a profile?

How many profiles can I have?

Do I use additional profiles to put in children under the age of 18?

    @Dan

1: To delete a profile:- On the main page of Google Health, click the Settings link in the upper-right corner. Once you’ve located your profile, click the Delete link to delete that entry. A window appears where you can approve or cancel the deletion. Click OK to permanently delete this profile.

2: Not sure about the number of extra profiles but I think you can add as many you like, considering the number of members of your family.

3: Yes you may use additional profile for that.

    Thanks,

That worked. Is there a website of document I can access to get details such as that. I don’t have to know everything there is to know about Google Health, but I do have to have access to everything there is to know about Google Health and any other Google facility I decide to use.

Dan, the best way to get your questions about a particular Google service answered is by just…Googling it ! :) Yes Google search is omnipresent and it will immediately answer your questions.

Other than that whenever you use a Google product or any other service, on the main page there is always an ‘ About ‘ ,’ FAQ ‘ or a ‘ Help ‘ page. That will give you further information. For example here is the Google Health Help Center page: http://www.google.com/support/health/ and it has all the links which help in answering the related questions.

We would like to schedule a presentation to our Rotary Club of Houston - Public Health Committee on Google Health. Would someone at Google be available to do that? and how do I contact them?
