googlecalendartopleft22052008.gifIf you have events advertised on your website, events that you want to draw visitors to, it is possible to have a Google Calendar button positioned next to those events which lets visitors to your site save those events directly to their Google Calendar. It’s quick, easy, and convenient and it means that people won’t forget about what you’re planning.

Say you’re Presidential candidate Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, or John McCain planning a meet and greet with the voters. You wouldn’t want to turn up in Anywhereville and find out there’s no-one there waiting for you would you? That would be pretty embarrassing, what with the media snapping at your heels and all. So to guarantee that there will be a healthy turnout of people all waving their placards, all you need to do is add a Google Calendar button to your website events so people remember what day your bus will be rolling into town.

Just fill out the details of your event as required on the page, choose your button then press “create button HTML”. Then place your HTML code in the desired position on your page (next to the event information would obviously be the best place). Then when the interested person clicks on the button, they will be taken to their own Google Calendar with the information about your event already pre-filled into their calendar on the correct day.

Google have also provided the direct URL’s of the logos if you want to use them without having to generate the HTML first. Here they are :

Very cool! We use Google Apps for our hybrid school and this will be perfect for the website news items (the kids are getting alot of the parents onboard!).
