Google Alert Tip: How to schedule your alerts
For the past few weeks I have been enjoying my subscription of alerts from Google Alerts. I have discussed how I have created an alert for anything about “macbooks” right here. Quite frankly, I think I may just add more alerts in the future. Google is very keen on sending me the most relevant MacBook info so far. So call me a returning customer!
For this Google Tip however, I will be showing you how you can change the frequency of alerts you receive. Right now, I have set my “macbook” alert to send alerts to me “as they happen”. So in a day, it is likely I’d receive more than one alert from Google Alerts.
There are three options I can choose from which tells Google how often I’d like to receive an alert about Macbooks.
1st option: once a day alerts - compilation of all alerts sent once a day by email
2nd option: as it happens - you will receive one email alert everytime something new comes up (most likely you’d receive 3)
3rd option: once a week - compilation of all alerts sent once a week by email
I’d like to change my setting to “once a day”. Here’s how:
step 1: Go to http://www.google.com/alerts/ and log-in to your Google Alert’s Account using your Google email and your Google email password as login

step 2: Click the edit link next to the alert schedule you wish to edit
step 3: Now click on the pull-down menu under the “How often” column… and choose, if you like, “once a day”

step 4: Now click “save” next to the alert schedule you just edited.
And that’s it! Now don’t need to worry about receiving tons of Google alerts, if you follow the tips above, you can quickly schedule how they come.
