Quick Gmail Tip: Mute a Conversation
If you use Gmail for business correspondence or even if you have a lively inbox, you have probably run into the situation where you a certain email thread that just goes on and on, and you’ve lost interest. However, you might want to find the information contained in that thread later.
As I discovered recently (literally in the last 5 minutes, by @abacab on Twitter), Gmail has thought of you. It has the ability to mute a conversation, which means you won’t see any further postings. The conversation will continue, but you will be blissfully unaware until you do a search or un-mute the thread.
The hotkey to mute is M when you have the conversation selected.
You can find more about the mute feature in Gmail’s Help Center.

Oh happy day: this will make managing my email lists much easier.
Weird… I was complaining about this very thing earlier today. Thanks for the tip!
Aaron, that’s a great application! Mail lists often stuff our inboxes full of long-winded discussions that can quickly get esoteric or boring. Now you can mute ‘em!
