Quick Gmail Tip: Adding A Signature

Sometimes we take things for granted or overlook some useful stuff that’s right under our noses. Gmail’s signature feature may be one such overlooked feature. This is basically text that is automatically appended to every email you send using GMail. Users who use GMail for personal reasons would perhaps append an ending as it was a personal letter, like saying

Sincerely, John Doe

or

Best wishes, John Doe.

Those who use GMail for business purposes would best place their name, company name, business address and contact numbers in their GMail signatures.

Something like this:

John Doe
Marketing Manager
A-Z Company
Telephone 123-456-7890

It’s really easy to setup your own GMail signatures. Just take these few easy steps:

1. We assume you’re currently logged in to your Gmail account. If not, do login first.

2. Select “settings” on the upper right corner of the page

3. Enter your preferred signature text in the box next to the “Signature” option (typing text into that box will automatically turn on the signature option).

4. Select “Save Changes” to confirm your signature.

Just it would be nice if I could associate a signature for every identity. It lacks on gmail, and as the implementation of this feature, I’ll be the first one to use

Gmail’s signature feature would be much more useful if sigs were placed immediately below the message, not at the very end of the email. How many people scroll past pages and pages of old quotes to look for a signature? As it is, this feature is pretty much useless.

I agreed with Ray, currently this feature is useless, it needs to be corrected.

It would also be good if they added a feature that allows you to .jpg & urls in the signature line.

I agree with “A”. I have an image that I would like to associate with my signature.

I also agree with A. Using a .jpg & urls are available on Yahoo’s email service. It surprises me that GMail would not have that ability available.

It’d be much more useful if you could set different signatures for the different email addresses you use: I don’t want the same sigbature ubder my band emails as I do under my business emails. So until that is fixed, I can’t really use it.

Please modify so the signature is at the top of the message in the compose window rather than at the bottom. Thanks!

I would also like to add a jpeg and url to signature.

When I type my website address in the body of an e-mail it becomes blue and it can be clicked on to go to that website. Why won’t it do the same thing in signature? It is really a pain in the ass to have to type this in each time. Am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks

I use gmail for everything. Wish I could set up multiple signatures & select best for each situation.

  13. Debon 18 May 2008 at 9:30 am

I would like to ad am image to my signature – i.e. my business card

  14. Elaineon 20 May 2008 at 11:11 am

I also would like to add an image or two or three to my e-mails. Please work on this.

  15. pauletteon 30 May 2008 at 1:09 pm

Definitely want to be able to automatically attach business card jpeg with each and every email.

Also would like options of which signature I want to use.

  16. Bunnion 07 Jun 2008 at 8:17 pm

I agree with all of the above

  17. Neilon 07 Jun 2008 at 8:26 pm

To use multiple signatures, you can enter your signature in the live preview at http://googlemodules.com/module/807/ and then use the new google labs feature to make the compose mail page that appears a quick link. It would be nice to have this feature built in though.

I agree with several other users – multiple signatures that can be selected as the need arises would be wonderful. Right now, I use my business signature at all times since it is the most professional and I don’t want to accidentally send a personal signature to professional colleagues. But my professional signature seems a bit too formal when I am contacting family and friends.

I want to add image along with the signature.
Can u help me in this ?

I also would like to request that adding of links in signatures be available, especially since it’s also a good way of promoting your business website or personal blog.

  21. johnon 28 Jul 2008 at 4:27 pm

how can you attach custom made signatures – either jpg or url that were specially designed for you
