How to change your Gmail password
Changing your Gmail password is another issue that a lot of people seem to email me about. So for the record, here’s how to do it - and it’s very easy.
- Go to “settings” in the top right hand corner of the Gmail screen, then choose the “accounts” tab.
- At the bottom, there is a link to go to your Google account settings. Click on that.
- You will then be taken to a page which has a link to change your password :

- Click on “change password” and follow the procedure laid out by Google. I particularly like the “Password Strength” scale which shows you how strong your new password is (according to Google).
Changing your password often is very important. It pays to be paranoid sometimes, especially if you have just accessed your Google account in an internet cafe. A lot of computers in internet cafes save information such as email addresses and passwords in the browser fields and if you’re in a hurry, it’s very easy to forget to wipe the cache before you go (which is what happened to me in an internet cafe in Venice). With the huge volume of people who pass through internet cafes, I’ve often found that it’s best to change your password immediately afterwards. Otherwise, what would you do if you lost control of your Google account to a hacker?

Don’t forget to make sure your secret question and answer are as hard to guess as your password. Also update your secondary email address (on same page) if your old email address has changed. Be safe out there kids!
