While I was browsing Google News this morning, I discovered that news pages rated in Stumbleupon are now appearing in Google News along with the Stumbleupon logo and direct links to the reviews.

googlenewssu.pngIt’s a feature that probably only appears if you turn on the feature on the Stumbleupon toolbar but it is an interesting development nonetheless – news stories which are now being ranked, rated and reviewed by human users. Another step towards ordinary internet users deciding what’s quality content and what’s not.

It also gives internet users the opportunity to comment on news stories via Stumbleupon and for the links to those opinions & debates to potentially appear on the front page of Google News for all to see.    Another good reason to start commenting and reviewing on the stories that matter most to you.

It’ll be interesting to see if this is just a brief experiment or if the feature becomes more widely spread.
