When iGoogle Themes first rolled out it was received with enthusiasm. I was one of those that changed my theme…then again…and again.

Changing themes is very easy all you need to do to change your theme from Classic to something else is to Click on Select Theme, click on the theme that appeals to you, and then click on save.

iGoogle Classic

iGoogle Theme Selection

iGoogle Bus Stop

If you cannot decide on a specific theme though you’ll be happy to know that each Tab can now have it’s own theme. To change each Tab’s theme just go to that Tab and repeat the same procedure above. Now I have the Bus Stop Theme for the homepage and the Tea House Theme for the News page.

iGoogle Tea House

Again if this still doesn’t satisfy your need for diversity what you can do is get a Custom iGoogle Skin. To choose the custom skin you want just click ADD to Google and you will be directed back to your iGoogle Home.

iGoogle Custom Skins

Click on OK to indicate that you want the custom skins turned on then start choosing among the skins and save.

Available iGoogle Custom Skins

The skins are still limited but hopefully Google will soon come out with a custom skin creator. Till then we’ll just have to make do with the existing themes. Enjoy!

iGoogle Firefox Skin

I really enjoyed using it and love it. Keep it up by adding up more theme selection for igoogle.

Right now my Select Theme link is not active. Does anyone know how I can fix that, or if it is a system issue?

I am having the same problem. My Select Theme link doesn’t work. What’s up?

I am having the same problem as NJN and Dave with the ’select theme’ link not working. It is happening on any computer I use (have tried 4) and with IE 6 / 7 and Firefox so it seems to be something to do with my account. The problem started right after I selected one of the new themes for a tab. I am reluctant to open up a new account to start again as I am unsure of the implications for gmail. Any help on this problem that is driving me nuts would be really appreciated. Thanks

That’s why, you all have a theme already, same thing happened to me. To change themes now you have to go through the link next to it ‘add stuff’ I think it is labeled.

Bad UI from Google on this one!

Thanks heaps for the advice - that has got me back to where I want to be on my tabs. Pity the link looks as if it’s permanently dead though (c’mon Google, do something). But the good thing is that searching for a solution has led me to this site which will now be visited on a regular basis for hints and tips.

    Hi
Long time ago I selected a theme with some moving gears. It’s pretty neat, but now I wanna change it. When I select a new theme it shows about 3 seconds and then it returns to the gears. I’ve tried everything, but still no change…
Anyone have experienced the same ??

    Hello,

Maybe you know the answer to this question :

Is it possible to have the I-google themes change automatically ? Can your program do that ? There are so many nice themes, I would like it very much to see a new one every day.

    Thank you for your help.
