Not a comment about this specific post. Just wanted to let you know your site's rapidly becoming my favorite! I've also always been into 'search', i.e. how it works, formulating queries to get the best results etc.
Never ceases to amaze me, how people can have Google right at their fingertips, and yet still can't find what they're looking for!
I can't tell you how many times I've heard the comment "I've been trying to find that for months, how did you DO that?", after a 0.03 second search. HAH, I thought I was pretty good at it till I found YOUR site lol! Keep up the good work, your site ROCKS!
Oh yeah, not to mention how much you've helped me improve my own search capabilities. Sorry I don't have any tips for you today, haven't read the entire site, so anything I give you, you likely already have ;o)
Regards,
Dave

Calculation or conversion results also show up as suggestions. Type "2*3=" or "1 gallon to liters" and see what you get.
