This has been under development by Google Labs for a long time now, and I don’t think they’ve put out a “full” release just yet. Still, I find this to be a useful tool every now and then when I just don’t know what to look for, or when I’m randomly trying to explore the Web. It’s Google Suggest. And you can access it via Google Labs at http://labs.google.com/suggest.

What does Google Suggest do for you? It tries to guess what you’re searching for based on the initial letters you type into the search box. It will then put out a live search with suggested search keywords and corresponding number of results. This is done real-time, without you having to click on the search button, or press enter.

Here’s Google Suggest.

Now I’m trying to start my search by typing in the letter a.

Google Suggest suggests a handful of popular keywords starting with the letter a.

I continue by keying in amer. American Idol seems to be a popular keyword.

I then continue by selecting American Idol results.

Once I click on that particular item, I’m then brought to the usual google results page within Google Labs.

If I wanted to do another Google Suggest query, I just then key in my keywords on the search box, and I go through the same process.
