Google Offers Free Music

Now here’s the ultimate in business models for the music industry. Remember that the RIAA is quite fond of suing people for downloading music free (a.k.a. “pirated”)? Now Google is offering music and music videos for free. And you don’t have to put it on your conscience. Google and other publishers earn from showing you these videos and playing the music–it’s AdSense-supported!

We’ve just announced major partnerships with two of the world’s largest music companies — Sony BMG and Warner Music Group — to bring thousands of music videos to Google Video via free, ad-supported on-demand streams. And as per our recent announcement with MTV, in the coming months our AdSense partners can put all these great videos on their sites as well.

The service is completely opt-in and is compatible with Apple’s iTunes, Windows Media Player, Yahoo! Music Jukebox as well as Winamp. Google will also store the music as part of its Personal Search history, so users can look back and see the artists they listened to on any given date. Information on Google Music Trends is updated nightly and includes data from the past week.

Some fun extra features include-:

-File transfer with unlimited file-size.
-Voicemail - contacts can leave a voicemail if you don’t answer.
-Music status - lets contacts see what you’re listening to.
