A Virtual Tour of Europe
Google just announced that its Google Maps, ever popular in the Americas for its successful integration of vector map data with satellite imagery–and the multitude of geo-based applications that came about as an effect–is now available in certain European countries. In particular, versions for Germany, France, Italy and Spain are now online.
What’s pretty exciting about this is that if you’ve always wanted to visit Europe, but just don’t have the time, then here’s your chance to do so–virtually, at least. You can get pay a visit to popular landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower (Paris), Olympiastadion (Berlin), the Grand Canal (Venice), and yes, even Vatican City in Rome!
While these areas were already available before, these were low-resolution satellite imagery (with a high degree of cloud cover in many areas). Now, you can see your favorite European spots in clear, high-resolution satellite imagery plus vector map overlay. This means street information will be present, where available.

You’ll be directed to the local-language Google site for the respective countries. If you want to browse in English, just key in maps.google.com and do a search for your desired European location.
