Where to get free Gmail Invites (or, How to Save a Buck)

Google’s Gmail is still not yet available to anyone who wishes to sign up. The only way in is to get an “invite” from someone who is already a gmail user. When I got mine a while ago, I had to buy it for a buck from someone on eBay. Now, they are getting easier to find since it appears that recently Google has dramatically increased the number of invites available to a user to give out. Most users now report having about 50 invites to give away.

If you don’t know someone who will give you an invite, let me tell you where to find one. There are people all over the Google Groups that are giving away gmail invites for the asking. It seems the best groups to find them at the Gmail Invites and Gmail News Google Groups. You’ll have to join the groups, but that just take a moment. Then, just use the “search this group” field to search for “invites” if you don’t see any right away. If for some reason there are none available when you go there, search all groups with “Search Groups” at the top of the groups page for “gmail invites.”

Then, start enjoying gmail. Do it now before all the good user names are taken.

UPDATE 03/12/05: Stephen entered a comment on this post that points out an even better source for Invites. It’s called the Gmail Spooler and you can go to it at http://isnoop.net/gmail/. Users dump their extra Gmail invites there, and users searching for an invite can request one there.

    Hi,
You can request an invite on our forum. There are many members who share their invites with other members. If you want to visit, here is the url:
    http://www.email-x.net

    Cheers.

You don’t need invotation anymore. You can register a gMail account using this link:
    https://www.google.com/accounts/NewAccount

Are you certain that these accounts work for Gmail? According to the page, it does not include Gmail. Could someone without a curretn account register and let me know if you get Gmail? Here’s what the page says:

Welcome to Google Accounts, the easy way to access all Google services that require a username and password.

The initial services available with your Google account are:

    * Google in Your Language – volunteer to translate Google’s services into various languages

    * Google Groups (beta) – post and read comments in Usenet discussion forums

    * Google Alerts – sign up to receive emails with the latest relevant Google results based on any query or topic

    * Google Answers – paid researchers answer questions for you

    * Google Web APIs – a tool for software developers to query Google automatically

    * Google Groups – post and read comments in Usenet discussion forums

    Hi,
I think the fastest thing to do is using the Gmail spooler:
    http://isnoop.net/gmail/
Users who don’t know what to do with their Gmail invites can dump them here, and users searching for an invite can request it here.

    Cheers,
    Steven

Ok, I try the google accounts and it works!
When you sign up for a google account, after the email confirmation, when you login and go to google’s main page, appears a link to the “try gmail” page where you can sign up for a gmail account. GREAT!

the best and most easiest is ByteTest.

And if you have invites, send them there.

    /// quick tip.
To save time, if you plan on sending all 50 invites at once, copy this e-mail , witho=ut the brackets and paste it 50 times ;)
